Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Paij Peterson, North Star Volleyball

The North Star Knights were overjoyed when they won the District 6C East volleyball championship last Friday night in Chester. And the performance they got from Paij Peterson was certainly a big help. Peterson did a little bit of everything for the Knights in their three matches, as she averaged 21 assists, nine digs and seven kills per match. Peterson also had a team-high in blocks in the championship match against CJI, as well as nine service aces over the tourney. Peterson is also a standout basketball player in the winter for the Knights.

Kade Strutz, Big Sandy Football

Kade Strutz is just a freshman, but for the Big Sandy Pioneers, he’s playing like a veteran. In Big Sandy’s first Six-Man playoff game since 2012, Strutz rushed for 334 yards on 36 carries in the Pioneers’ 55-32 win over Richey-Lambert last Saturday in Big Sandy. The Pioneers tallied more than 500 yards of offense, while Strutz scored three times, on runs of 6, 15 and one yard. His final touchdown came in the fourth stanza and put an exclamation point on an exciting victory for the Pioneers. Big Sandy advances to play Bridger this Saturday.
