Seven Ponies earn Central A accolades

The 2017 season was tough one for the Havre High football team. However, despite the fact that the Blue Ponies finished 0-9, Havre was still well represented on the Central A All-Conference team.

While the Eastern and Central A conferences joined to form one big, 10-team league, the six-team East and the four-team Central A stayed within their own grouping of teams for All-Conference selections.

However, the Ponies did feature just one First-Team All-Conference honoree, as wide receiver Ivar Aageson, who had close to 600 yards receiving, earned that spot. HHS also had a couple players earn Second-Team honors on the offensive side of the ball, as senior Daniel Odgen made the Second Team at guard, as well as Mason Dionne at running back. Quarterback Trey Murphy also received an honorable mention at quarterback, as did Quinn Springer at center and Ethan Roberts at receiver.

On the defensive side of things, Havre had three players that earned All-Conference honors, as Dionne and Roberts were each named Second-Team All-Conference at linebacker and strong safety, respectively, while Jacob Irvin got an honorable mention at free safety for HHS.

Lewistown, which was the only former Central A team to qualify for the playoffs, got both the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year Awards. Lewistown running back Wes Jameson was the offensive MVP and Wyatt Blythe was the conference's defensive MVP.

The Class A All-State team will be released following the Class A state championship on Nov. 18.
