Obituary - Lorene Johnson

Our sweet mother, Lorene Johnson, took her final and most important trip to be with her Savior Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 14, 2017.

Lorene was born July 7, 1926, on the family farm in Temvik, North Dakota, near Hazelton, to Ludwig and Bertha Schoepp.

After teaching only one year, she married Verner Johnson in 1945. While farming in North Dakota, they had four girls, Claudette, Paulette, Deborah, and Judith. After moving to Montana in 1953, they had three more children, Darla, Keith and Kurt.

Mom was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Besides keeping her home and children, Mom was always busy working retail and caring for others. She enjoyed sewing for her children growing up and, later, sewing costumes for choir concerts. She loved traveling with Dad visiting family. She took special trips with friends and family to the Holy Land, Hawaii, Alaska and Branson. Of course, she was a wonderful cook and perfect hostess. However, the most important part of her life was her family, her church and service to God. She taught Sunday School, lead numerous Bible studies, and was a speaker for Christian Women's Association. Her recent years at the Eagles Manor were spent praying for her family and many friends.

Surviving Lorene are six children and 12 grandchildren, Claudette (David) Nussbaum; Deb and Ed Kanduch and Sharmin, Kristie and Eddy; Judi and Ron Surina and Tony, Dennis and Clayton; Darla and Jim Cook and Michael and Melissa; Keith and Denora Johnson and Ki; Kurt and Renae Johnson and Mitchell and Megan; along with 22 great grandchildren, Aleeah, Hannah and Chelsea; Ashley, Josiah and Kyle; Bella and Josh; Jasmine, Jordan, Jersey, Jillian, and Julisse; Trent; Josef, Brice, Blake, Braydon, Burton, Connell, Colton; SidDora, and seven great-great grandchildren, Zane, Anarchy and Amethyst; Gayle and Eddie; and Kyzer and Kaslyr.

She also is survived by her sister Loretta (Kermit) Loftus and brother-in-law Ronald Swanson.

Those preceding Lorene in death are husband, Verner; daughter Paulette; her parents; brothers, Rudy, Fred and Arnold Schoepp; sister Lillie Swanson.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Richards officiating.
