Polar Plunge raised $6,107 for Special Olympics

Saturday see 24 heroes jump into ice water

Alex Barkus plunges into the icy water Saturday at Havre's Town Square during the SubZero SuperHero Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Montana.

Four teams and 12 individuals, a total of 24 superheroes, raised $6,107 Saturday when Special Olympics Montana's Great Northern Area chapter held their annual SubZero SuperHero Polar Plunge, Special Olympics Montana Development Director Wendy Rispens said.

Mandy Patriarche, a development director with Special Olympics Montana, said the Havre Police Department's Dunkin Donuts team raised about $800, the most of any of the area teams in the Great Northern Area.

Patriarche said the amount raised was slightly less than last year.
