MAT sets auditions for 'Sister Act'

Montana Actors’ Theatre is holding auditions for “Sister Act” Wednesday and Thursday at the Little Theatre in the bottom level of Cowan Hall on the Montana State University-Northern Theatre.

The cast calls for main roles for 10 men and seven women with several chorus roles also available.

People auditioning should prepare a short song from the 1970’s disco era, such as Bee Gees, Diana Ross, ABBA, and so on. People should come prepared to sing, dance, and read for roles

The play tells the story of when disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be a found: a convent. Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight mother superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.

The show dates for the play are March 9-11, 15-18 and 22-24
