Obituary - Michael Conley

Michael Conley was born in Cut Bank, MT, Wednesday, Sept. 20, 1961. He was the second son and fifth child of six to Donald and Barbara (Abell) Conley. Mike died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, in his home of natural causes.

He graduated from Havre High School in 1980 and went on to study diesel mechanics in Billings. After working many years back in Pennsylvania at his uncle's business, he returned to Havre in 1996 and had different jobs over the years - many pertaining to mechanics/parts and mostly in customer service, the last at Taco John's in Havre, although he had been unable to work the last few years due to disability. He volunteered when and where he could and was most proud of his current position as president of the Resident Council at the Eagles Manor.

Havre was his home, and he loved the community and its people - and liked to visit and chat with everyone. Mike was a wonderfully social person, always thinking of others and always helped his fellow man when he could. He loved to send greeting cards and never missed a birthday or holiday. Mike was an active member of the Fifth Avenue Christian Church, the Masons, Eastern Star, and was a past Elks member.  He liked to work with his hands and was proud to keep his motorcycle running well until he had to sell it.

Children were a joy to him, although he never married and had none of his own. Family was very important and he always looked forward to the many birthday celebrations for our grandmother, Wilma - and enjoyed being around all the brothers, sisters, aunt, uncles and all her grandkids and great-grandkids.  When asked what his favorite holiday was, he answered "Thanksgiving - because family is all together and there is good food to eat!" He enjoyed history - making every effort to visit all the museums he could - and loved to read books, especially biographies. Although he had many difficulties in his life, Mike was an optimist and went through life with a positive outlook.

On his path to heaven, Mike follows his grandparents, most recently Grandma Wilma Conley, his mother, sister Mary Nivens, and brother Chuck Conley. On this earth, he leaves behind his father three sisters, Cathy (Ken) Kihara of Havre, Ruth (Rick) Lagerquist of Plentywood, MT, and Carol (Grant) Sather of  Poulsbo, WA; sister-in-law Connie Conley of Helena; three nieces; three nephews; three grand-nieces; five grand-nephews; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Monday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church in Havre, and there will be a small family graveside interment at Highland Cemetery in Havre at a later date this summer.

Holland & Bonine Funeral home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.
