Officers investigated after being notified Thursday at 9:05 a.m. that a male sent text messages to family members asking for help.

Officers arrested Matthew Allen Bell of Havre, 35, on a Justice or City court warrant Thursday at 5:14 p.m. on Third Street.

Officers arrested Mindy Allison Helfant of Joplin, 44, on charges of driving with an expired registration and failure to produce proof of insurance and on a Justice or City court warrant during a motor vehicle stop on 10th Street Thursday at 6:35 p.m.

Hill County Sheriff’s Office

Deputies arrested Brandon James Belgarde of Havre, 24, on two Justice or City court warrants Thursday at 3:16 p.m. at the Hill County Detention Center.

Deputies investigated after a U.S. Highway 2 West business caller reported Thursday at 3:26 p.m. that a man “stole stuff and took off running.”

Deputies served a warrant and arrested someone Thursday at 4:35 p.m. at the Hill County Detention Center. No further information was available.

Officers served a warrant to and arrested Jamie Lee Doney of Box Elder, 27, on a Justice or City court warrant Thursday at 9:59 p.m. at the HCDC.

Havre Fire Department

Medical crews responded to one call early today.

Fire crews responded to the 4800 Block of U.S. Highway 2 West Thursday at 10:11 a.m. where a gas leak was reported. An inspection revealed there were no leaks and no further action was necessary.

Fire crews responded to the 800 Block of 23rd Street where a caller reported a carbon monoxide smell. An inspection revealed there were no leaks and no further action was necessary.

Havre Animal Shelter

The animal shelter held this morning six medium-haired, three short-haired and one long haired cats.

The animal shelter held this morning a female pit bull terrier, a female Labrador retriever, a male pit bull- Labrador retriever, a male American bulldog-pit bull terrier, a female pit bull terrier-spaniel mix, a male terrier and a female wire-haired pointing griffon-golden retriever.

Births

A girl was born Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, to Josh and Sarah Garcia of Havre.
