Groups team up to provide to kids in foster care

Local 4-H members and other sewing enthusiasts spent part of their Saturday at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church making quilts for foster children.

Volunteers, who ranged in age from children to adults, sewed, pinned, tied, pressed and ironed quilts made from donated fabric. The quilts will be included later in backpacks distributed to foster children.

In all, about 10 4-H members signed up to take part in Saturday's quilt making workshop, said Jasmine Carbajal, the family and consumer sciences agent at the Hill County Extension Office.
