Jolene was born March 22, 1964, in Havre, to Joseph and Agnes (Sutherland) Swan. She was raised in Rocky Boy attending school there. After high school Jolene moved to the Spokane area, where she remained until her death.

Jolene was a fantastic homemaker, and in her spare time, she enjoyed coloring in the new adult coloring books, collecting weapons and reading. Jolene enjoyed such a close-knit group of friends in her Spokane “family,” and lived her life to the fullest, believing that quality is better than quantity. Her whole family was important to her, but her grandchildren were the light of her life. She lived an eccentric life and was known as J.J. to her Spokane family.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Raiden Paris Favel; her biological mother, Sharon Sutherland; her adoptive parents, Joseph and Agnes Swan; her brother Robert; her grandparents Pete and Angeline (Denny) Sutherland; her special niece Angie Chabug Swan; and numerous other family members.

Jolene is survived by her life partner of over 20 years, Samuel “Rocky” Purnell, of Spokane; her children, Billie Huston, Janean Swan, John Matte and Percy Gone, all of Spokane; her 23 grandchildren; her great-granddaughter; her brothers Kenny (Debbie) Sutherland of Great Falls, Pat (Brandi) Zampich of Polson, Clifford (Melissa) Swan of Rocky Boy, James “Jimmy” Swan of Omak, WA, and Shane and Jason (Shawna) Zampich of Knoxville, TN; her sisters, Karen “Fern” (Gary) Doney of Box Elder, and Dola Belcourt of Spokane; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
