We Love Northern Ball set for Saturday

People are invited to the 32nd Annual We Love Northern Ball Saturday for a night of eating steak, dancing and auctions to help raise money for scholarships to Montana State University-Northern.

Jim Bennett, executive director of the Northern Alumni Foundation that hosts the event, said money from the raffles, auctions and a portion of the $50 admission tickets will be used for scholarships. He said the aim is to generate enough money for 20 scholarships each worth $1,000.

The ball, though, has evolved into something more than a fundraiser, he said.

“It’s an important fundraiser, but it’s also an important way to connect with the community and show them the positive things going on at Northern.” he said.

The ball will be in the Armory Gymnasium with doors opening at 6 p.m for a social hour. A steak dinner will be served to guests at 7 p.m.

Vic’s Place in Havre will also have a cash bar.

Bennett said attendees will have the chance to take part in raffles, with prizes donated by local businesses and individuals.

After dinner, an auction will be held where people will bid on several prizes in the form of Montana experience packages. Bennett said the packages will allow people to go to an event or place to experience Montana. The packages include a ski trip to Big Sky, a trip to the Fort Peck Theatre. a hunting trip in the Bear Paw Mountains, a getaway to a golf course in the Flathead and a dinner and whiskey tasting at the private home of a yet-to be named donor.

The night will end with live music by Cash For Junkers, a band from Missoula that will play from 9 p.m. until midnight.

“Its a great way to round out the night after a good meal,” Bennett said.

Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Foundation’s office at 265-3711.
