Paij Peterson, North Star Girls Basketball

Even with a canceled game Saturday night, North Star’s Paij Peterson still put together a strong weekend on the basketball court. Peterson scored 12 points in North Star’s tough loss to the Havre junior varsity team last Tuesday, but her game-high 16 points against arch rival Chester-Joplin-Inverness at home Friday night were key in the Knights’ bouncing back, as they beat the Hawks. Peterson is a returning All Northern C standout for the Knights, and is a third-year starter for head coach Rob Spicher. She also excels in volleyball and track and field.

Isaac Bell, Chinook Boys Basketball

Chinook junior Isaac Bell simply had a game for the ages last Thursday night. Facing the Class B Harlem Wildcats in Chinook, Bell scored a school-record 51 points in Chinook’s 94-80 win. Bell, a two-time All-Conference and All-State performer, made 17 field goals, including eight 3-pointers against the Wildcats. He also shot an outstanding 9-for-11 from the free-throw line. Bell scored 26 points in the first half and 25 more in the second as Chinook won for the 13th straight time.
