Letter to the Editor - Article beyond the level of good taste

Editor,

We would not deny the right of the press to report on an incident such as a Senate candidate being escorted off the premises of a school because of his failure to conform to a court order regarding the custody of minors.

The facts surrounding the Dean’s candidacies rightly should also be considered fair game. As a local paper, however, you should know that simply not mentioning the names of the minors in question would in no way protect their identity or privacy. In an incredibly painful family situation, you have increased the harm that this family has incurred. The salacious reporting of the details of the false and court-rejected accusations in an ongoing custody battle was entirely beyond the level of good taste and we hope to never see a repeat of it in your paper.
