International quilter set to show quilts Friday

Quilting instructor and international award-winning quilter Ana Buzzalino will be featured in a trunk show of a selection of her quilts Friday at the Holiday Village Mall.

Buzzalino grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, sewing and learning dressmaking and art, her website says. After moving to Calgary she became interested in quilting. Three years after starting to quilt, she was giving lessons, but also continued to attend workshops with renowned quilters and fiber artists to increase her own skills.

Her quilt “The Prairies Changing Landscape” won first place in the Art Abstract, Small, category at the 2017 International Quilt Show in Houston.

Along with me more than 30 years of quilting and instructing, Buzzalina has contributed to several quilting publications and television programs. The trunk show will start at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at the mall. Admission is $10 to see a selection of her quilts, talk with Buzzalino and hear her speak about her work.
