Havre Squirts finish third at state

The Havre Ice Hawks 10U squirts team took third place at the Class B state tournament this past weekend inside the Havre Ice Dome.

The Ice Hawks went 2-2 in the group stages of the tournament, before rebounding to beat Bozeman 8-6 to capture third place. The tournament started last Thursday and ran through Sunday.

Havre opened things up with Helena and earned a 6-2 victory thanks to two goals each from Callen Stoner and Gray Toldness. David Emge also scored a goal, as did Koby Preputin. Rogan Sayers also contributed with 19 saves in the win for Havre. In the second game, Havre knocked off Billings 6-1 Friday in the Havre Ice Dome. Toldness had two more goals for Havre, Stoner, Sayers and Emge all scored as well. Unique Sky Not Afraid also scored a goal in the win. Paisley Branden notched 13 saves in net.

On Saturday, Glasgow beat Havre 5-3, despite goals from Branden, Ronin Olsen and Emge. Sayers had 26 saves. The Ice Hawks also lost to Butte 4-3 Saturday. Toldness, Olsen and Branden all scored a goal in the losing effort. Sayers notched 22 saves. Finally, in the third place game, Havre beat Bozeman 6-3. Stoner notched a hat trick with three goals, Emge, Toldness and Olsen all added one goal apiece. Branden notched 16 saves in the win.

The other players that contributed to the third-place finish were Frances Hanson, Sylas Belcourt, Evan Karns, Henry Miller, Jerek Dees, Gus Chase, Xavier Ymzon and Micah Connor. The coaches were Hans Hanson, Phil Sayers, Shawn Preputin and Chad Olsen. The head coach was Brett Patrick.
