Harlem hosts Seed Show for 69th year

The annual Montana Seed Show is coming to Harlem this week, bringing the 69th year of activities to the Hi-Line.

Thursday starts with entry day for several activities, including for agricultural exhibits — grains, legumes, grasses and potatoes — from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Harlem High School’s gymnasium;, for woodworking, with judging of that at 2 p.m.; entry from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for fleeces, with judging that is open to the public starting at 1 p.m., and entry from 1 to 5 p.m. for educational and commercial booths at the gymnasium.

Thursday finishes up with a beef cook-off at 6 p.m., also open to the public.

Friday kicks off with breakfast from 6:30 to 9 a.m. and blood screenings and the Health Fair from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m.

The exhibit buildings open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the Art Show setup from 8 to 10 a.m.

Entry of pies and breads is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. with preliminary judging at 10 a.m.

Lunch is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by the pie and bread auction and merchandise drawing from 2 to 5 p.m.

The Pancake Supper runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Vo Ag Room, with the art auction starting at 7 p.m.

Saturday again has breakfast from 6:30 to 9 a.m. and the Health Fair and blood screenings from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. and the exhibit buildings open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Saturday is a Kids Activity Day with events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lunch also is set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, while the Quilt Show is from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the Classic Car Show is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Vo Ag Room and the Sheep to Shawl demo is also 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Montana Actors’ Theatre is holding an interest meeting at 11 a.m. in the Harlem High School library, and the Pie and Bread Auction and merchandise drawing runs Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by take down and removal of exhibits at 4 p.m.

Saturday wraps up with the banquet, featuring guest speaker Colter Brown of the Northern Ag Network, at 7 p.m.
