Hello God. It's me, Mara

Our amazing world

You know, Lord, if we would just stop to think for a moment, we might realize that we really do live in an incredible world! The expanse of space is humbling. The majesty of the mountain peaks takes away our breath. Some folks are lucky enough to see mountains from where they live, other folks have to drive a ways to see such sights, but seeing mountain peaks is a tremendous sensation.  On and on we could go, describing all the beautiful, magnificent and awe-inspiring wonders of the universe. The variety, the order, the symmetry, and the unexpected all testify to You, Lord God; who of us can even begin to imagine the Genius behind it all.

We can’t even begin to really imagine One with the power to say “Let there be Light” and low and behold, there was a light explosion. It’s recorded that the light rushed forth at the rate of 186,000 miles per second! Now that is moving!  How about two full moons in January and also in March? Do we even “think” how that happens or how the earth can balance on its axis which prevents it from careening off in the universe? Who of us ever even thinks about the oxygen in the air for us to breathe; like, where does it come from? We probably don’t even think about oxygen unless we’re one who needs an oxygen tank trailing along with us to help us breathe.

We read in Romans 1:20: “For since the creation of the world God’s attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and divine nature … so that they are without excuse.”

Thank you, Lord, for making your fingerprints so clearly seen in our amazing world. Your incredible sense of majesty, grace, wonder, awe, and beauty astounds me!

Love, Mara
