Obituary - Thomas "Tom" John Filler

Thomas "Tom" John Filler went home to the arms of Jesus, his mom and dad, brothers and loved ones March 11, 2018.

A vigil service will be April 19, 2018, at 7 p.m. and the funeral liturgy April 20, 2018, at 11 a.m., both at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Great Falls. Burial of ashes will be in Highland Cemetery in Havre.

Tom was born to Eddie "Hap" and Florence Filler Feb. 25, 1956, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Havre, Montana. He had a good life filled with love. He, himself, had unconditional love for all. He was active in 4-H activities and loved the camp he attended in the Bear Paws. When Special Ed was started in Havre, Tom was 17 years old and attended Havre High School in the Special Education Class. He was granted an honorary diploma at the end of the school year, and then at 18 years old there was no offering of further schooling. He worked at the Activity Day Program in Havre.

Tom always lived at home until the passing of his mother, at which time he moved to Great Falls and lived with his brother, Jim, for 19 years. While living with Jim, Tom worked at Easter Seals. When Jim retired, so did Tom. They spent their time following sports of local high school teams, Providence Argos, the Northern Lights and the Voyagers. After Jim's passing he lived with his sister, Mary, and her husband, Harry, for eight years. Then in January 2016, due to Alzheimer's disease, he moved to Benefis Memory Care where he passed away peacefully on March 11.

Preceding Tom in death were his parents, Hap and Florence; brothers Ed and his wife, Faustine, Jim and his wife, Mary Lou, Bill, Dave, and many relatives and friends.

Surviving Tom is his sister, Mary, and her husband, Harry Guetherman; sister-in-law Carole Filler; many nephews and nieces and their families; cousins, and many, many loved ones.

You will be missed Tom, but your spirit lives on in all of us. You taught us how to live - happily, humbly and lovingly. You were a friend to all; no one was a stranger. You were an angel here on Earth, and you are an angel now in God's eternal kingdom.

A special thank you to the CNAs, nurses and Activities staff at Benefis Memory Care who lovingly and compassionately took care of Tom the last two years of his life; he loved you all.

Condolences for the family may be posted online at http://www.SchniderFuneralHome.com/.
