Griefshare spiritual grief class set at Fifth Avenue Christian Church

Fifth Avenue Christian Church is hosting its second 13-week session of GriefShare, which is a class for people who have lost a loved one. This a grief recovery group with a spiritual emphasis.

  If you have ever lost a friend, family member, husband, wife or a child, you understand the deep hurt of this experience. GriefShare helps in this confusing time when a person feels isolated and have many questions about things they have never faced before.  GriefShare helps those in need to face challenges and to help them move forward in rebuilding their lives.

The GriefShare class meets Wednesday evenings with delicious soup and bread at 5:30, followed by the week’s session from 6 to 7:30 p.m.  These classes will be held till June 6.

Participants are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group at any session. Each session is self-contained, so participants do not have to attend every class through the 13-week sessions. Each GriefShare session has three parts:

1) A Video Session with grief and recovery experts, featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies and dramatic reenactments during the video session.

2) A Support Group Discussion, following the video, where each participant can spend time in their small group to discuss the topic of the current’s week video and to discuss how things are going in the GriefShare participant’s grief process.

3) Each participant will need a GriefShare Personal Study and Reflections guide to take home to use to further their recovery process thru journaling.  The group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the personal study guide.  The GriefShare Personal Study and Reflections books are available for $15. This is the only cost for any participant that attends this 13-week grief class.
