Letter to the Editor - Awesome winter

Editor,

What an awesome winter! I love the snow, the way it covers everything and makes it white and clean looking. I love to ice fish and just be out and enjoy life. I especially enjoy being out with the wife and doing it together.

However, there have been some glitches. Heavy snow in October causing a lot of inconvenience to a lot of people. But did you notice how most everyone chipped in to help others and be a community? The amount of snow we got this year has put on a tremendous burden on the city crews, the county and state. I truly believe that they all have done a great job. Piling up snow on the streets was taken care of as needed where possible, the busy area downtown is but one example. Drifting in the county and highways made it difficult. I drive a school bus and many times the county roads were open then closed because the graders would go through and it would drift in right behind them. They did as good a job as was humanly possible. Snow and breakdowns must have been a constant issue.

The city crews still have issues with tree limbs that need to be taken care of. Now we have potholes and there will be those that will complain. This is just like the snow coming! Take care of it as it happens to the best of their ability. Time takes time. Spring water line breaks. Wow, it just keeps coming. Life is mostly attitude. Can embrace it or fight it.

I am grateful that the snow we have is melting slowly. Could have been a real problem! Let’s give a big thank you to all who help us though life.
