MFU to Hold Workshop on Industrial Hemp in Bozeman

Press release

Montana Farmers Union is offering a workshop on industrial hemp April 12 in Bozeman.

The growth of iHemp is gaining traction as part of a pilot program offered through the Montana Department of Agriculture. MFU has led several workshops on industrial hemp. April’s event will mark the first in the south-western part of the state.

“Industrial Hemp is shaping up to have a lot of potential for Montana producers,” said Alan Merrill, MFU president. “We always encourage producers to diversify their operation when appropriate to withstand the ups and downs of the market. For this event we have brought together a knowledgeable lineup of presenters to help producers make informed decisions regarding their operation.”

April’s event will provide the opportunity for the public to learn about this new crop with first-hand knowledge from presenters well-versed on the subject. The presenters include Ian Foley with the Montana Deptarment of Agriculture, Jeff Kostuik of Hemp Production Services in Canada and producer Colby Johnson of Conrad.
