The Montana State University-Northern women's basketball 2018 recruiting class is starting to take shape.
On Tuesday, Northern women’s basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Morgan Mason to join the Skylight program next fall.
Mason, a 5-8 guard, has helped lead Froid-Medicine Lake to three consecutive Class C State Tournament appearances.
Mason is a two-time Class C All-State and four-time All-Conference selection in basketball. She was also named to the State C All-Tournament team twice. On the volleyball court, Mason also excelled. She was an Honorable Mention All-State performer in 2016, an All-State pick in 2017, and was a three-time All-Conference performer. She was also an Academic All-State selection for four consecutive years.
This season, Mason averaged nine points, nearly five steals, three assists, and three rebounds per game. She shot 47 percent from the field.
“What really jumped to me about Morgan is her toughness," Mouat said. "She is a strong guard who plays extremely hard. She can play a couple of different positions on the floor. I like what she does defensively, and believe that she has a lot of potential to grow her game offensively. We are excited she has chosen to be a Skylight.”
Off of the court, Mason also excels. She was the student body president, FFA president, and a 3-year member of the National Honor Society.
Morgan is the daughter of Heather and Darren “Tater” Mason. Her older sister Alicia is currently a student at MSU-Northern. She plans on majoring in physical education with a coaching emphasis at MSU-Northern.
