Obituary - Bette Arlone Bowman

Bette A. Bowman was born July 20, 1924, in Circle, MT, to Sam and Minnie Funk. She married Burhl Schulz in 1941. In 1942, their son James (Jim) was born. Bette was widowed in 1944 when Burhl lost his life on the USS Intrepid. Bette and son, Jim moved to Havre, MT, where she met Frank Bowman and married him Dec. 24, 1945. In 1949, they had a daughter, Pam (Weigum). Frank and Bette's anniversary and holiday parties were the talk of the town. While in Havre, Bette sold Avon, worked at Owl Drug and La Mode, modeled and golfed.

Frank and Bette moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ, in June 1979. For 33 years in Lake Havasu City, they golfed, threw cocktail parties, and played bridge. For many years, Bette was an election official at the voting polls. She was an avid painter of landscapes, water scenes and wildlife. Bette was an artist, not only with a paint brush, but also of table settings for formal dinners, and it was a must to use a coaster and cocktail napkin.

After Frank passed away in February 2012, she sadly and bravely left AZ in December for a snowy and cold Spokane, WA, to be close to her daughter and family. Bette passed away peacefully March 18, 2018, in Spokane.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Jon) Weigum; grandson, Scott (Malia) Whitaker; granddaughter, Amanda Weigum; great-grandsons, Connor and Ryley Whitaker; her daughter-in-law, Lynda Bowman, and her younger brother Bob Funk.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin sisters; a sister, Leah; brothers Ted and Gene; her husband; her son, and so many close friends.

She left the world at about 5:40 p.m., just in time to join her husband, son and friends for cocktail hour in heaven. With drink and cocktail napkin in hand, we raise a toast to Love, Health, and Happiness. Donations can be made in her memory to Horizon Hospice, 123 W. Cascade Way, Spokane, WA 99208.
