Born March 13, 1936, in Esmond, North Dakota, to Clyde C. and Emma (Stant) Richardson. Jim spent several of his childhood years in Washington, D.C., moving, as a teenager, to Montana where he graduated from Sydney High School in 1955.

After high school, Jim joined the U.S. Navy and served as an airplane mechanic on the USS Shangri-La. After completing four years of service, he moved to Havre, MT, where he met and married Carolyn Bailey in 1961.

Jim made his living in all aspects of road construction, retiring in 2012 from Baltrusch Construction of Havre after 52 years of service. Following Jim's retirement, he and Carolyn relocated to Coeur d' Alene, ID.

Jim is survived by his wife, Carolyn, in Coeur d' Alene, sons Tony (Elia) Richardson of West Jordan, Utah, and Lee (Barbara) Richardson of Coeur d' Alene; five granddaughters, Haley, Shelby, Heather, Stacie and Kristen; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Bette and Mildred; and brother Robert.

Surviving siblings are Duane (Joyce) Richardson of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Tary (Kathy) Richardson and Gary (Wanda) Richardson, both of Havre, Montana, and Leann Reames of Gonzales, Louisiana.

A memorial will be held May 19 at 1 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d'Alene.
