Liberty County treasurer race has two in Republican primary

Rachelle Fenger

Rachelle Fenger hopes to be the next Liberty County Treasurer, but she will first have to win the upcoming Republican primary.

Fenger is running against Liberty County Treasurer Denise Wanken in the June 5 Republican primary.

Because no Democrat or Independent filed to run for treasurer, the winner of the primary will be unopposed in the general election.

Fenger said that her love of government accounting and a desire to make positive change in the county is why she decided to run for treasurer.

She said that her experience in government finance and working different kinds of jobs, as well as her ability to think forward, will all be helpful to her in the treasurer's office.

Fenger said that she also has administrative experience in bookkeeping, handling payroll, human resources and handling government revenue.

If elected, Fenger said, she wants to improve communications and customer service as well as create more of a team environment in the office.
