Blue Pony faspitch players earn Central A, All-State accolades

It was a banner year for the Havre High girls fastpitch softball team under new head coach Tony Vigliotti.

The Blue Ponies posted an outstanding win-loss record, and in the postseason, reached the Central A championship game, before posting a win over Sidney at last week’s Class A state tournament in Frenchtown.

So it should be no surprise after such a stellar season that, the Blue Ponies were well represented on the 2018 Central A All-Conference team, with five All-Conference selections.

Havre had two First-Team All-Conference players, led by junior Kinzee Peterson, who also nabbed Class A All-State honors. Peterson was the Blue Ponies’ starting catcher, and one of its top hitters and run-producers throughout the season. Sophomore Sam Oliver, who plays shortstop and pitches for the Ponies, also was named Central A First Team.

Another sophomore, Janae Boles, earned Second-Team honors for the Ponies. Boles was an anchor in the outfield for the HHS defense and was an outstanding hitter as well. Senior Alex Barkus had a big season in the circle for Havre, earning key wins against Lewistown, both in the regular season and at the Central A tournament in Havre. For her efforts, Barkus was named Second-Team All-Conference. Fellow senior Camryn Huston, one of Havre’s top homerun hitters and an outstanding defender at first base, was named Honorable Mention All-Conference as well.
