SUPfest returns for a second summer

2nd annual paddleboard extravaganza slated for next weekend at Beaver Creek Park

It's once again going to be a whole lot of fun on the waters of Beaver Creek Reservoir next Saturday and Sunday.

The 2nd Annual Bears Paw SUPfest will be held July 7-8 in Beaver Creek Park. The SUPfest is a stand-up paddle board festival hosted by local Bare Pa-dma Yoga and SUP companies.

"The festival is all about getting people outside and on the water, paddle boarding and having fun," SUPfest co-organizer Tony Filler said. "It's a beautiful place for family to enjoy the outdoors without having to travel any distance to enjoy water activities."

Paddleboard events include the backward race, tandem race, paddle board dodgeball, and a rock-paper-scissors tournament. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each event.

"This event is for all ages and for the person who has never paddle boarded before," co-organizer Cortney Filler said. "Paddlefish Sports from Whitefish will again be at the event providing boards, but if you have your own paddle board and life jacket, it would be a good idea to bring them along."

fivehead's will be at the Beaver Creek Park Reservoir Community Pavilion making T-shirts, and Triple Dog Brewery will also have a booth.

Registration starts at noon July 7. Events start at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $25, which includes all events, Nalivka's Pizza, night paddling, onsite camping, breakfast from The Infinity Bake Shoppe, paddle board yoga and the event on Sunday. For more information, contact Tony Filler at 390-6178.
