Independence Day kick-off set for Blaine County Fair

Horse show set for Tuesday

Five days of fun, food and events in Blaine County will kick off the summer fair season in the area.

Chinook will play host to the Blaine County Fair at the Blaine County Fairgrounds with the main events Wednesday through Sunday and a 4-H horse show at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The fair starts with the Kids’ Rodeo at 1 p.m. Wednesday, with fireworks at dusk.

Double D Pig Wrestling will be at 7 p.m. Thursday with 4-H entry also being held earlier that day.

Friday and Saturday will have the Bear Paw Roundup PRCA Rodeo at 7 p.m. and the last day of the fair, Sunday, will have the Youth Livestock Sale at noon and the demolition derby, with a $10,000 total purse, starting at 3 p.m.

In the previous years the pig wrestling and demolition derby have always been very popular events, said Fair Manager Debbie Ramberg.

“We have a new carnival,” Ramberg said, adding that the carnival contract this year is with Dreamland Carnival, which will be providing more than 13 games and rides.

The carnival company said it will have the rides and games up in time for opening Thursday, with it possibly being ready Wednesday, she said.

Advanced Pay One-Price tickets for the carnival, good for one day Thursday through Sunday, can be purchased for $20. All-day carnival tickets purchased at the fair will be $25.

Many different fair food vendors will be at all days of the fair, and live entertainment by The River will be performed at the beer gardens every night after the rodeo and in-between heats of the derby.

“(The fair) has free parking and free admission,” Ramberg said, with the event poster saying it is “Bigger and Better Than Ever!”

Tickets for the events and carnival can be purchased online at the fair’s official website, https://blainecountyfair.net and more information can be found on their official website and their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/blainecountyfair or questions can be emailed to [email protected].
