Former Skylight signs to play professional basketball

Natalee Faupel headed for pro ball in Denmark

Natalee Faupel had one of the most remarkable careers in Montana State University-Northern women's basketball history.

After all, she's the Skylight's all-time leading scorer.

Now, a year removed from college basketball, Faupel is taking a shot at a professional career.

According to MSU-N head coach Chris Mouat, Faupel has signed a contract to play professionally in Denmark.

Faupel, a Butte native and former two-time, first team NAIA All-American, will depart for Denmark in August. Her new team, Lemvig Basket, is located in Lemvig, Denmark. They finished in fifth place in the 2017-2018 season. The team will tour Europe in the pre-season before playing their regular season in Denmark.

Faupel, a 2017 graduate of MSU-Northern, left MSU-N to pursue her master's degree last year at Idaho State University. She recently completed that degree in athletic administration at ISU, where she also served as a graduate assistant for the Bengals women's basketball team.

Faupel wrapped up her brilliant Northern career with 1,829 points. She also records for most field goals, most free throws made and most free throws attempted in a career. She also played on four straight NAIA national tournament teams, appeared in two Frontier Conference championship games, and was a three-time First-Team Frontier All-Conference standout.
