Fire extinguished on River Road

Wild Horse Volunteer Fire Department firefighters responded to a grassland fire on the 10100 Block of River Road shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire appeared to start from an electrical arc where a tree branch had been rubbing on a power line, Wild Horse Fire Chief Shawn Rismon said. It was hard to gauge in the dark, he said, but he thinks between 20 and 25 acres burned and other than the power pole and line no damage was reported. Hill County Electric repaired damage to the power line.

Rismon said he was grateful for the local response for backup which was provided by Bear Paw and Kremlin volunteer fire departments and Havre Fire Department.
