Obituary - Billy Joe Favel

Billy Joe Favel, 57, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018, due to natural causes.

Wake services began at 5:00 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2018, and will continue until his funeral service, which will be at 10:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, July 31, 2018, all at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Rocky Boy. Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Billy Joe was born on December 20, 1960, in Fort Belknap, MT, to Robert and Joanne (Carrywater) Favel Sr. He was raised in Rocky Boy, graduating from Box Elder High School in 1979. He worked for a number of years as a carpenter, building homes. He was very skilled in all areas of construction. In his late 30s, Billy Joe went back to school at the Salish Kootenai Community College, where he received his certification in truck driving and heavy equipment operations. He worked for the next 20 years as an over-the-road hauler and heavy equipment operator for various companies.

Billy Joe was a fun-loving man who loved to tease his family and friends. He was very family-oriented, thoughtful, and hard-working. He loved to drive, especially the back roads, gambling, and spending time with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joanne Favel Sr .; his siblings Peggy Sue Favel, Joycelyn Favel, Randolph Favel, and Terry Lee Favel; and his nephews Ben Larose and Denver Buckman.

Billy Joe is survived by his grandson, Josiah Koop; special friend Donna Shortman of Havre; siblings Roberta Favel of Coulee Dam, WA, Robert Favel of Rocky Boy, Jackie Favel of Canada, Larry (Rose) Favel of Rocky Boy, and Charlie (Rose) Favel of Canada; aunts Shirley White and Val Marie Carrywater; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, whom he loved dearly.
