Havre City Fire Department flies Old Glory

Havre Fire Department flies an American Flag over Fifth Avenue Thursday. The flag was bought by the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 601 union and was flown simply because the department felt like being patriotic that day said Assistant Fire Chief Kelly Jones.

Havre Fire Department flew its new national flag high above Fifth Avenue Thursday.

International Association of Fire Fighters Local 601 President and Havre Fire Department Engineer Chance Ophus said the union local just purchased the flag and received it Thursday morning.

After talking to the fire chief, he said, they decided to send it on its "maiden voyage," hanging it off of the department's Rosenbauer ladder truck.

The truck has a 55-foot ladder, which stood above the fire department and Fifth Avenue with Old Glory waving in the air.
