Obituary - Esther Griffith

Esther Griffith of Gildford, MT, 88, died August 29, 2018, of pulmonary fibrosis at the Bozeman Lodge in Bozeman, MT.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Gildford Community Church, 310 Sixth St., with a memorial service at 11 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Highland Cemetery in Havre, MT.

Esther was born April 30, 1930, to Jennings and Bessie Swinney north of Gildford. She married Charlie Griffith on June 22, 1948, in Lakeview, OR. She spent 60 years in Gildford with Charlie until his death on August 31, 2008. Esther was his partner in life and caregiver the last four years of his life, nursing him through all the stages of larynx cancer that they both endured together. They are now reunited for eternity.

Esther was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Heidi Griffith; her parents; brother, Jack Swinney; and sisters, Emma Hansen and Eunice Staples.

She is survived by two sons, Gary (Jan) Griffith of Branson, MO, and Chuck (Diane) Griffith of Bozeman, MT; one daughter, Liana (Mike) Cooper of Hines, MN; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
