Obituary - Iechia Sutherland

Iechia Sutherland, 39, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Northern Montana Hospital due to natural causes.

Wake services were held Wednesday, September 26, 2018, and continued until her traditional funeral service, which began at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018, all at the New Senior Center in Rocky Boy. Burial followed in the Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Iechia was born on November 3, 1978, in Havre to Louis and Rosemary (Brown) Sutherland Sr. She was raised in Rocky Boy, graduating from Rocky Boy High School in 1997. She then attended Kicking Horse Job Corp twice, graduating both times with different majors. Upon her second graduation, Iechia moved to California to attend Job Corps, and she worked for Cal Train as an attendant while there. In 2002, she returned home, and worked in Great Falls and Rocky Boy for the next 16 years, at NEW Call Center, Village Grocery, and most recently as a customer service representative at Plain Green.

Iechia was a kind and loving woman who enjoyed crafting, socializing, and spoiling her nieces and nephews. She loved people, and she had a heart for helping others. She also loved to travel, driving anywhere and everywhere. Iechia visited Costa Rica, Chicago (for a Bulls game), and drove down the west coast from Oregon to southern California.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas and Rose Sutherland and Steve and Lena Brown; her brothers Louis Sutherland, Jr., and John Oxford; and nephew Ryan Valdez.

Iechia is survived by her parents, Louis "Walkie" and Rose Sutherland of Rocky Boy; sisters Christine (Leo) Duran of Great Falls, Seneca Sutherland of Rocky Boy, Michelle Badgley of Great Falls, and Nicole (Pete) Demontiney and Rosie (Tessa Talks Different) St. Pierre, all of Rocky Boy; brothers Loren (Tonia) O'Conner of Kent, OH, and Calvin (Lindsey) Jilot, the Raining Bird boys, and the Molina boys, all of Rocky Boy; godchildren, T'shina Molina, Curtis Molina, Sr., Kateri Molina, Tristin Abeita, and Kaelyn Demontiney; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
