Hi-Line Volleyball: Chinook, North Star keep winning

With district tournaments just a couple of weeks away, every volleyball match on the Hi-Line is becoming critical.

Last week began with a slew of matches Tuesday and Thursday nights, including Chinook winning a five-set thriller of Malta in a non-conference match. The Beeters outlasted the M-Ettes by scores of 25-20, 21-25, 22-25, 25-14 and 15-3. Kourtney Hanson had a huge match for Chinook with 29 kills, eight blocks and three aces.

Thursday night saw North Star sweep Hays-Lodge Pole in two matches in the 6C East. The Knights beat the Thunderbirds in the first match by scores of 25-9, 25-10 and 25-13, and took the second by scores of 25-10, 25-11 and 25-19.

In a non-conference match Thursday night, Chester-Joplin-Inverness beat Sunburst by scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-17, with the Hawks poling up 37 kills and 10 aces in the win.

Box Elder also played a non-conference match Thursday night in Box Elder, but the Bears lost a heartbreaker to Geraldine-Highwood by scores of 25-18, 27-25, 23-25, 25-21. The Bears got a huge match from Lilly Gopher, but it wasn't enough to take down the Rivals.

Chinook kept its 6C East record perfect Friday night with a dominant win over HLP. The Beeters beat the T-Birds by scores of 25-8, 25-4 and 25-6. Megan Molyneaux led Chinook with six kills and seven digs.

Friday night also saw North Star sweep Valier by scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-18.

The Knights came back Saturday and captured a critical 6C East win. In Big Sandy, North Star beat the Pioneers by scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-21. Olivia King had eight kills, 11 digs and three aces, while Paij Peterson added 10 assists, four blocks and three aces for the Knights. Amanda Cline had 14 digs for the Pioneers.

Also Saturday, Box Elder beat CJI by scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-22. Lilly Gopher again led the Bears in kills.
