Havre businesses offer trick or treat alternatives

Many Havre business and organizations are offering activities this Halloween for children and parents looking break away from the traditional door-to-door trick or treating.

Havre-Hill County Library is having a Photo Stop at the library now through Halloween. The public is invited to stop by and take pictures in front of the library's Halloween backdrops, Library Director Rachel Rawn said in an email.

Library staff can also help take individual or group photos if needed.

For Books and Babies at 10:15 a.m. and Story Time at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, after reading books about Halloween, the library will offer Halloween games, like Pin the Bat on the Jack, Terrifying Twister and Trick Tac Toe

The library is handing out candy on Halloween from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. as well.

District 4 Human Resources Development Council is having their Trunk or Treat on Halloween from 3 to 4:30 p..m. in the Fireside Room.

The event is for infants to 5-year-olds and will include treats, games and prizes. Parking is free.

Eagles Manor will also be handing out treats Wednesday from about 4:30 to 8 p.m. on the first floor of the manor, which will be decorated for the holiday.

Holiday Village Mall is having a Trick or Treat Parade from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday for all ages.

Timber Creek Village will be hosting a trick or treat from 6 to 9 p.m., said staff member Jessaca White. White added the event is open to all members of the community, and attendees can tour the facility as well.

White said Timber Creek Village holds the event annually.

Northern Montana Care Center is holding a trick or treat event as well from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and all attendees are asked to use the south entrance said staff member Bill Chambers.

The trick or treating is for all ages and the care center asks that all children be accompanied by their parents, Chambers added.

Northern Montana Care Center has put on this event annually and Chambers said they had about 600 people stop by last year.

"It's really great for us and for the community," he added.

Walmart is giving out candy Wednesday and will have a haunted maze people can walk through, said employee Celia Carmona.

Carmona added, the store will start passing out candy at 5 p.m. and will continue as long as there is candy. The haunted maze, located in the lawn and garden department of the store, is for all ages.
