Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Kade Strutz, Big Sandy Football

Big Sandy's Kade Strutz just did it again. In a Six-Man playoff game last Saturday in Big Sandy, Strutz scored seven touchdowns and rushed for 234 yards in helping the Pioneers topple White Sulphur Springs, 56-22. Strutz' monster game included him toting the rock 26 times, and also catching a pair of passes for 22 yards. Strutz and the Pioneers will now advance to this Saturday's Six-Man quarterfinal at Wibaux. Strutz also had 300 yards rushing in a playoff game a year ago for the Pioneers.

Paij Peterson, North Star Volleyball

The North Star Knights didn’t quite repeat as District 6C East champions this past weekend. But they came very close, and senior Paij Peterson was certainly a big reasons why. Peterson, a setter for the Knights, averaged 20 assists over the course of the two-day 6C East tourney in Gildford. She also averaged three blocks and four kills, while also serving 27 aces in the tournament as the Knights finished second. Peterson is a three-sport standout for the Knights, who also plays basketball and runs track and field.
