Last Sunday, Harvest Moon Lanes was privileged to host the State Youth Traveling Tournament. There were many amazing youth bowlers from Helena, Billings, Cut Bank,, Great Falls, Missoula and Havre.

I was able to watch some of them practice on the lanes Saturday night, seeing games of 222, 243 and 269, they are awesome young bowlers. The tournament was divided into Major and Junior groups. Everyone bowled six lines, then the top five in each group proceeded with step ladder events.

Winner's of the Junior Event were, round one, Rory Peterson of Helena with a 137 against Brek Strobel of Billings with a 184. In round two, Strobel bowled a 152 against Michael Hawk of Missoula, who had a 234. In round three, Hawk bowled a 171 against Cayden Cox of Helena with a 226. In the final, Cox bowled a 160 against Ryan Kass of Billings, who was the winner with a 227.

In the Major Event, round one was Adrianna Albert of Great Falls with a 147 against Jacob Rorvik of Billings with a 180. In round two, Rorvik bowled a 180 against Austin Martininch of Great Falls, who had a 174. In the third round, Rorvik bowled a 183 against Caylor Cox of Helena, who won with a 255. Honorable mention for Havre Bowlers included, Casey Mariani in the Major Division taking seventh place. In the Junior Event, Lane Kinsella took ninth place and Chase Marina placed 11th.

I'm sure the tournament will be back next year, and I recommend anyone going out and observing. You would be totally amazed with what these kids can do.
