Name released of Rocky Boy man who died after high-speed pursuit

Officials have released the name of a man who died from injuries sustained in a crash at the end of a high-speed chase.

Rowdy Denny of Rocky Boy, 18, died as a result of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday in Blaine County.

Blaine County Sheriff’s Lt. John Colby said the pursuit began outside of Harlem after a Blaine County deputy sheriff on patrol spotted a vehicle speeding on U.S. Highway 2 going westbound.

The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen from Rocky Boy, he said.

The narrative in the Montana Highway Patrol report, with Trooper Matt Erickson the officer investigating the crash, said Blaine County law enforcement initiated a pursuit of the vehicle, a Dodge Ram, on U.S. Highway 2 going westbound at a high rate of speed. The vehicle turned north on Elloam Road, Secondary Highway 325, east of Chinook and drove approximately two miles north.

Colby said the pursuit lasted approximately 15 to 20 miles before the driver lost control of the vehicle on the gravel road, rolling several times and throwing the driver out of the vehicle. The crash was reported Tuesday at 8:45 p.m.

Denny was transported to Northern Montana Hospital. From there he was transported again by air ambulance to a Great Falls hospital, where he died.

Blaine County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fort Belknap Police Department in the pursuit.
