High-speed pursuit of stolen car ends in arrest

Jacob Wade Russette of Box Elder, 18, was arrested at 3:27 a.m. Sunday on charges of possession of dangerous drugs, vehicle theft, driving without a driver’s license and fleeing or eluding a peace officer and on a Justice or City court warrant.

Russette was arrested after leading Rocky Boy Police Department and deputies from the Hill County Sheriff’s Office on a high-speed pursuit on Laredo Road and U.S. Highway 87.

Saturday at 11:03 p.m. a First Street caller reported a black 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix was stolen in Havre.

Police Chief Gabe Matosich said the vehicle was first spotted on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation by the Rocky Boy Police.

Hill County Sheriff Jamie Ross said Hill County Sheriff’s Office received a call to assist in pursuit at 3:17 a.m. He added the vehicle was coming off of the reservation into Hill County and approximately 10 minutes later Russette was arrested.

Rocky Boy Police Department did not return requests for comment by print deadline this morning.
