Obituary - Paul Vincent Gopher

Paul Vincent Gopher (aka Mincy Man), “Brown Bear,” 48, passed away surrounded by loved ones, due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS, on Monday, December 10, 2018, at Benefis Hospital.

Wake services began at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at the New Senior Center. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. today, Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Burial will follow in the Rocky Boy Veterans Cemetery.

Paul was born on March 18, 1970, in Great Falls MT to Thomas and Lois (Murie) Gopher. He was raised in Rocky Boy along with his siblings. Paul graduated from Rocky Boy High School, and then joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1994 and was stationed in MCB Camp Lejeune, NC. He was an expert rifleman and a National Defense Service Medal recipient. Paul was then honorably discharged from the USMC in 1998, after which he attended Stone Child College receiving his AA in natural resources. Paul was very proud to be a Marine and was always seen wearing his Marine memorabilia.

Paul loved singing, dancing, and teasing, and he had a great sense of humor. Throughout his life, he touched many lives through his kindness and laughter. He enjoyed singing karaoke and had a deep appreciation for music. He enjoyed watching and playing along with “Jeopardy.” Paul was also active in helping the Rocky Boy Veterans Center with Honor Guard duties before he was diagnosed with ALS. He was a proud Marine who adored his wife, children, and family. Paul left an undeniable impression on this earth and will not be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Lois Gopher; siblings Elizabeth (Gopher) Wetsit and Joseph Gopher; nephew Jericho Small, and grandson Kaidynce Small.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Leana “Jina” Gopher; children, Alvena Stone, April, Ryan, and Rayanne Noon, Tiffany (Justin Corbine) Meiwald, Antonio (Sophia Kohrman) Morsette, Sage Gopher, Seirah Stone, Precious Raine; two grandchildren, Kaylianne and Kaizyn Frank; siblings Thomas Gopher, Laurie (Oscar Standing Rock) Gopher, Juanita (Orty) Rock, Althea (Neil LaMere) Gopher, Jackie (Spencer Russette) Gopher, and Hadushka Howell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
