Obituary - Betty Lou (Shaffer) Connor

Betty Lou (Shaffer) Connor passed away December 21, 2018.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 3, at 2 p.m. at Chester Methodist Church.

She was born in Havre, Montana, to George and Beatrice (Lunt) Shaffer. She graduated in the class of '49 and often recounted memories of those school years and adventures with her many friends.

Mom acquired her work ethic early in life, babysitting and even helping to cook for a large harvest crew while very young. Throughout life Mom gave her all to any task, whether homemaking, gardening, cooking at the Inverness School, being a CNA at Liberty County Hospital, or the many other endeavors that were part of her busy life.

Betty and Robert Junior Connor were married in September of 1949. They welcomed three children to their family - Lindy, Butch and Russ. Mom and Dad improved yards and homes, discovered a love for square dancing, taught ballroom dancing, taught kids and grandkids various card and board games, spent many winter months in Arizona and made many friends and many memories during their 64 years together.

Mom's hip broke a year ago and her health gradually declined. She loved to be outside in the fresh air and sunshine, spending time in the Hospital Park every warm day. Those hours were highlights of her last year and undesignated memorials will be applied to that beautiful space so all can enjoy it as much as Mom did.

Survivors include brother Jack (Florence) Shaffer and sister Virginia Pasma; children, Linda (Rollie), Butch (Linda), and Russ (Karen); grandchildren Lisa (John), Lonnie (Kim), Tanya (Carl), Stacy, Chad (Mallory), Tracey, and Justin (Ashley), and great-grandchildren Cady (Albert), Javin, Maverick, Broc, Sophie, Sidney, Ava, Jace, Alexander, and Gabriel.

Betty's family wishes to thank everyone at Northern Montana Care Center for their wonderful care, kindness, and patience.
