Havre welcomes first newborn of 2019

The Havre community grew by one Thursday morning as Megan Raine and Lex Keller welcomed their first child into the world.

Brynlee Lila Keller, a 7 pound, 8 ounce baby girl, was born Jan. 3 at 8:07 a.m., making her Havre's first baby of the new year.

After going into labor around 2 p.m. Wednesday, Raine, a certified nursing assistant at the hospital, had her child the following morning, and narrowly claimed the title of "first baby of 2019" for her daughter.

Raine said she did not expect to have the first newborn of the year since her due date was set for Jan. 14.

"There were actually two other women in labor at the same time," Keller said. "But we made it."

"It's been a roller coaster of emotion for us," he continued. "You're not sure if you want to cry or what because you're happy and scared at the same time. We've gotten a lot of help from everybody, though, and it's a wonderful feeling."

The couple said they have managed to get some sleep since Thursday, and they were spending the weekend resting with their baby girl as they prepare to leave the hospital and introduce Brynlee her new life.
