Havre Elks hosting an open house

Havre Elks Lodge No. 1201 is hosting an open house for all residents of Hill, Blaine and Chouteau counties Friday between 6 and 9 p.m. at the lodge at 321 Second St. in Havre.

“This event is for members of the communities that our lodge serves to be introduced to the Elks organization in a relaxed, casual environment,” Lodge Exalted Ruler Kyle Leeds said “Our members Bill Patera and Clyde Thomas with Fat Billy and the Boyz BBQ will be providing pulled pork sliders and nachos at the event, and our club will be open for attendees to enjoy a beverage of their choice.

“At this event, the public will be able to meet current members of the organization and ask questions about who we are and what we do,” Leeds added. “We will have many different informational tables set up that night for people to meet our committee chairpersons and find out specifically what their committee does.”

The informational tables will include Lodge Activities, Hoop Shot, Most Valuable Student, Drug Awareness, Grants and more.

“Some of the great charitable programs we currently offer though the lodge included our hoop shoot, soccer shoot, blanket drive, veteran’s giving tree, and dictionary project,” Leeds said. “Also we are proud to partner with other community organization on Memorial and Veteran’s Day events and the community flag retirement ceremony. Attendees at the open house will also find out more about the social benefits of Elks membership from current members of the organization.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is celebrating 151 years as the premiere charitable and patriotic organization in America. Locally, Havre Lodge No. 1201 has 231 members.
