Obituary - Robert J. Markwardt

Longtime Havre resident Robert "Bob" Markwardt, 79, passed peacefully on February 21, 2019.  

Bob was born in 1939 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, to Roy and Hattie Markwardt.

After graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, he married Nancy Thysell and began a journey selling farm equipment that would take him through many stops in Minnesota and Illinois.

In 1976, the family traveled to Havre, a place Bob would call home for the rest of his life.  He continued selling farm equipment for Big Bud, Case I/H, eventually retiring from John Deere.

Bob was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and loved living in northern Montana.  He was actively involved in Pheasants Forever, was a big Northern and Havre High sports fan, and enjoyed visiting friends and family.

Bob was preceded in death by wife, Nancy, and is survived by sons Rob and Tom of Seattle and Jon of Bend, Oregon; brother, Tom of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; sisters, Mary and Janice of Minneapolis, Minnesota; grandchildren, Ava, Emma, and Ben, and his many friends in the Havre area. He will be missed greatly.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place in the spring, Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.
