Water tank leak re-routes school buses move from SIxth Avenue to Fifth Avenue today only

08:14 a.m. A leak in a major water tank on the east end of Havre has shut down streets, causing Havre Public Schools to announce this morning that school buses that normally run from Sixth Avenue Ninth Street through Ninth Street and Sixth Avenue will run on Fifth Avenue for today only.

A release from the schools said the change is due to water.

The streets are blocked off due to the water leakage.

Havre Public Works has been dealing with snowy streets and water main breaks for the last month. With temperatures rising into the 30s, snow that accumulated during the bitterly cold and snowy February - the second-coldest on record in north-central Montana and with Havre receiving its fourth-highest snowfall on record for the month, 17.5 inches - the snow is melting rapidly and lightly refroze overnight.
