MCA scholarship applications available; April 15 deadline

Press release

Montana’s future workforce is important to the Montana Contractors’ Association — whether that workforce is building infrastructure, teaching youth, or nursing the elderly. That’s why the MCA — through its Associates’ and Concrete divisions, and education foundation — offer scholarships to help pay for education that helps Montana students pursue their career paths of choice.

Available scholarships include:

• MCA Associates’ Division Presidential Scholarships (High School, Undergraduate) — $1,500 each

• MCA Concrete Division Scholarships (High School, Undergraduate) — $1,000

• MCA Education Foundation Construction Trades Scholarship (High School, Undergraduate, Non-traditional) — $1,000 each.

To qualify for the Presidential Scholarships, applicants must:

• Have parents or guardians employed by MCA member companies. Find a complete list of MCA member companies in the Business Directory at http://www.mtagc.org under the “Resources” tab.

• Be attending:

• any accredited postsecondary school — in-state applicants

• an accredited Montana postsecondary school — out-of-state applicants.

• Provide a completed application that demonstrates dedication to scholastic record and ability, involvement in extra-curricular activities, and desire to work hard to succeed.

To qualify for the MCA Concrete Division Scholarships, applicants must:

• Meet the qualifications mentioned above and be the child or dependent of a member of the MCA’s Concrete Division.

To qualify for an MCA Education Foundation Construction Trades Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be attending a construction trades program, or planning to attend a construction trades program.

• Provide a completed application that demonstrates a passion for careers in construction, and the ability to succeed in the construction field.

• Applicants do not need to be affiliated with a MCA member company to apply for this scholarship.

The number of scholarships distributed annually depends on funds raised throughout the year and the quality of applicant pools for the scholarships.

Applications are available at mtagc.org and the application deadline is Monday, April 15. For more information, call the MCA at 406-442-4162.
