Obituary - Lloyd David Curfman

Lloyd David Curfman, 95, a lifelong farmer from Gildford, Montana, passed away of natural causes in Havre, MT, Friday, March 15, 2019, with family by his side.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church, 410 Fifth Ave, Havre, MT, Monday April 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM, with Pastors Eddie Fallo and Mac McGrew officiating. A fellowship luncheon will immediately follow in celebration of his life with the Hi-Line community. Private family interment will be at the Highland Cemetery in Havre, Montana.

Lloyd was born in Havre, MT, February 22, 1924, and was a lifelong member of the Gildford community beginning in 1928 when the Curfman family assumed operation of the Gildford Mercantile. When the family purchased a grocery store in Belfry, MT in 1941, Lloyd returned to the farm in Gildford each spring through fall during his high school years, to seed and harvest first with his father, Paul, then by himself, graduating from Belfry High School.

Lloyd married Dorothy Helen Gruel on March 7, 1945, at the First Baptist Church in Billings. They farmed north of Gildford from 1945–1989, when they retired after 44 years. Lloyd and Dorothy were married 65 years before Dorothy passed away March 23, 2010.

An independent soul, Lloyd loved his projects around the place in Gildford. He was blessed to live at home until the fall of 2016 when, he finally grew weary of cooking, mowing, and shoveling snow, and moved to Timber Creek assisted living in Havre.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; parents, Paul and Margaret Curfman; sisters Dorothy Brain, Evelyn Fradet, and Rosemary Davis; and son-in-law, John O. Brown.

Lloyd is survived by his sister Donna (Jerry) Kinney of Fountain Valley CA, sons Larry (Marilyn) Curfman of Benton City, WA, and Darryl Curfman of Bozeman; daughter, Sandra Brown of Havre; three grandchildren, John Brown Jr., Whitefish; Dana Brown, Missoula, and Travis Brown, Havre, and three great-grandchildren.

Lloyd was a member of the Gildford Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, Elks, and Eagles.

Memorial's in Lloyd's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
