From Tee to Green
Spring came in like a lion, that’s for sure. And after a brutal February, followed by a nasty first half of March, it might have seemed like golf on the Hi-Line was still a long, long ways off.
Yet, here we are, the first week of April, and, the local golf season has arrived.
Last weekend, both Prairie Farms Golf Course and Beaver Creek Golf Course opened for business, and both courses did it a full three weeks earlier than they did last spring.
So, since golfers are back at it, weather permitting of course, it’s only fitting that I bust out the first From Tee to Green of the new season. This column will normally appear Tuesday’s for much of the spring, and all of summer, but for the time being, it might be a little random.
So, first thing’s first — a few reminders.
Anyone out there, from Harlem to Chester, and from Havre to Fort Benton, and all points in between, who wants information included in this column, all you have to do is let me know. From league results, to tournament results, aces, great rounds, stories from the course, special events, and pretty much anything that has anything to do with the local golf scene, I want to write about it, photograph it and publish it. So, in order to do that, just keep me informed by emailing me at gferguson@havredailynews, or giving me a call at 390-4142.
Again, I want to cover the local golf scene all year exactly like this column is titled: From Tee to Green.
And to start it all of for you, here’s a few bits of info you might want to know. Prairie Farms Men’s League will hold its annual league meeting Wednesday, April 10, at the club house at Prairie Farms. Beaver Creek Men’s League will hold its league meeting Thursday, April 11, at BCGC. The Prairie Farms Women’s League meeting is set for April 18 at the PF club house, as well. For all meetings, at least one representative from each team should attend.
Also, the high school golf season has started for Class B-C schools. So for our area teams, like Chinook, Rocky Boy, Box Elder, Harlem and Fort Benton, I’d like to publish your results as part of this weekly column, so coaches, please email me anything you have, and best of luck on your season.
So there it is folks, a short and sweet first From Tee to Green. I’m super-excited that golf is back. It’s a short season around here, but I’m sure it will be another great one. And all that’s left to say is, swing ’em well, folks, and enjoy your spring and summer and fall on the golf course. I certainly plan to when I get there.
