Local Golf Report: Men's league golf is underway

Hopefully, but possibly not, local golf courses have now seen the last of the white stuff for a while.

Winter returned with a late fury on Sunday afternoon, as snow, wind and cold ascended on Havre and the Hi-Line, and I'm sure, it wasn't exactly what all of us local golfers wanted to see.

Still, men's league at Prairie Farms Golf Course and Beaver Creek Golf Course did get started on time last week, as all leagues got out in front of the nasty storm that drilled us on Sunday.

At Prairie Farms last Tuesday, the men's league season began with Myers Ranch earning high-team honors with 24.5 points. The team was composed of Mike Kellam, Jerry Wagner, Jake Myers and Greg Mosness. Kyle Sheppard and Kellam shared low gross, each shooting 39, while Jacob Lorang was low net at 31.

Last Wednesday night saw Master Sports and DA Davidson tie for high team with 21 points. Master Sports was composed of Wayne Bolken, Barry Kato, Mosness and Sheppard, while DA Davidson was made up of Barry Zanto, Frank Peterson, Ric Floren and Dave Herman. Sheppard was again low gross, firing an even-par 36, while Herman and Steve Mariani shared low net at 36.

Last Thursday night at BCGC, Gram's was high team with 24 points. The team was made up of Kellen Malone, Chris Owens, Ryan Callahan and Ned Malone. Kyle Miller shots a one-over 37 for low gross, while Kaare Engelbretson and Pete Stiffarm shared low net at 32.
