Havre High School senior Natalie Verploegen was selected as this year's winner of Triangle Communication's Best of the West video competition.

The purpose of the competition, which was spearheaded this year by Tom Metcalf of Triangle Communications, is to advertise the impact of the digital world. This year's topic was the importance of high-speed broadband Internet access to a community.

With her video submission, "Prosperity," Verploegen demonstrated the varied points of view of users of broadband Internet access and what that access means to their lives or livelihoods.

Verploegen, who plans to study television at the University of Montana, was awarded a $500 check as contest winner, and Havre High School received a $1,500 check to be used for technology at the high school.

Metcalf presented the awards to Norman and Verploegen at Havre High School.
